Teeth Whitening (Zoom Whitening)

Teeth become yellowed or otherwise discolored for a variety of reasons. You can’t always avoid it even when you stick to an excellent oral hygiene routine. Not even a dental cleaning can completely whiten your teeth if they have stains below the enamel. That is why we use Zoom whitening to brighten up your teeth and give you back your most beautiful smile.

Benefits of a Whiter Smil

With dingy, yellowed, discolored teeth, it is hard to feel good about your appearance. So, in any situation where appearance matters, having a whiter smile can influence both how others see you and how you see yourself. It can make a difference in:

  • Your self-confidence.
  • Your professional bearing at work.
  • The way others experience you in social situations.
  • Your romantic life.
  • Your impression in job interviews.
  • And more!

About Zoom Whitening

We offer Zoom, a whitening technique only available through dentists. The special Zoom solution, specifically designed to work with the Zoom light, goes beyond other methods by getting at the source of the problem. It breaks the chemical bonds of the stains so they no longer appear on your teeth. Zoom whitening is safe and very effective.

The Procedure

First, we isolate the teeth from the gums and other soft tissues of the mouth so only your teeth are visible and no solution will get on your lips or gums. Our dentist then paints on the whitening solution. We shine the special Zoom light to activate this solution, and then we repeat this entire process 2 more times. It takes about 45 minutes to do the treatment. By the time you leave our office, your teeth are several shades lighter.

What Causes Teeth to Yellow?

Because the enamel of your teeth is translucent, any stains that penetrate below it to the dentin will show up as surface discolorations. But what causes stains in the first place? Most often, teeth yellow after repeated exposure to foods, beverages or tobacco use.

  • Foods
  • Beverages
  • Tobacco

Whether you use tobacco or not, you are going to eat and drink in the normal course of life. Brushing and flossing can help, but without any kind of whitening, your teeth are almost certain to yellow to some degree as you get older. Other factors causing tooth discoloration include:

  • Environment
  • Genetics
  • Medications you take

In addition, your teeth may change color due to aging, injury or dental work you have done. For example:

  • Teeth naturally age as you get older.
  • Root canal therapy can darken the tooth.
  • An injury to a tooth can cause it to discolor.

Come In for a Whitening Consultation

During your consultation, we discuss your goals for whitening your teeth. In some cases, you may opt for additional cosmetic procedures that whiten the appearance of your smile. For example, if you have a misshapen or badly stained tooth, you might like to have a veneer for that tooth. Whether you choose Zoom or some other procedure as well, we discuss the pros and cons and answer any questions you might have.
